Our September luncheon was powerpacked with our annual AIM (Achievement in Marketing) Awards show that bestows honors on marketing’s best, and a presentation by Dan Rogers, Senior Marketing Manager at the Grand Ole Opry. It was fitting to include both together since the May flood sidetracked both the award show and the Opry.
A full ballroom of attendees at the Hilton Garden Inn watched as NAMA presented the awards.
In the Business-to-Business category, the finalists were: Emdeon for its IPO Marketing Campaign; a website redesign for OHL; and Emdeon’s direct marketing campaign named, “One. More.” Emdeon’s IPO campaign won. The company’s IPO was one of the most successful IPOs of 2009.
The finalists in Business-to-Consumer included: HealthSpring for its “Testify” campaign; redpepper’s online community MyKirklands.com for the home store, Kirkland’s; and Victor Results Advertising’s TV direct marketing campaign for AmMed Direct. HealthSpring took home the award with its campaign that used actual HealthSpring members telling their own stories.
The Not-for-Profit category showcased the work of Goodwill and DVL for their integrated marketing campaign for Goodwill; a grassroots and social media campaign for the Street Theatre Company Project by redpepper; and a strategic direct mailer developed by Victor Results Advertising for CASA. CASA won with its mailer that helped CASA serve 24% more children than the prior year. These strong results helped CASA win the AIM Award for Best in Show.
And the winner for Marketer of the Year was . . . Tim McMullen, CEO of redpepper.
Did you know that awareness of the Grand Ole Opry is actually higher in the Midwest and the West than in the South? That was some of the very interesting information Dan Rogers, Senior Marketing Manager at The Grand Ole Opry, shared with our marketing luncheon crowd. With wit and warmth, Dan explained how the Opry staff had to change gears overnight in the wake of the May flood and how it’s positioning itself for its Grand Opening September 28 and for its 85th Anniversary in October. Thanks, Dan for sharing your Opry stories with NAMA. (By the way, Dan thinks that Northeasterners transplanted to Florida are throwing off the data for the South!)
